Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome
Run two X servers on the same machine by adding the following line in the gdm.conf: [servers] 0=Standard 1=Standard Run first session GNOME in the VT7 (by default) and try to run on the VT8 an other GNOME session (with an *other* user than on VT7). You have strange behaviour from that. The main error you can extract is the approximative error message: "gnome-panel already running: can't run an other one" If I check, the only gnome-panel program running is the one of the user of the VT7 session. I was able to run this config (two X servers with two GNOME sessions with two different users) in the previous Ubuntu version (breezy). Current version: Dapper. Upgrade from 5.10 and 5.04). Test on AMD64 and Matrox G550 PK ** Affects: meta-gnome2 (Ubuntu) Importance: Untriaged Status: Unconfirmed -- Can't run two GNOME sessions in the same machine on two X servers https://launchpad.net/bugs/48959 -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
