You have been subscribed to a public bug: I am booting the LiveCD image of the 2009-12-29 build of 10.04 under Virtualbox (Version 3.1.2 r56127) .on Windows XP.
ls_release -rd reports: Description: Ubunut lucid (development branch) Release: 10.04 I expect like the 9.10 image that it would boot to the desktop when I select try Ubuntu. Under Lucid it starts OK. I select to Try Ubuntu and it begins to boot and then after a short while it bring up the login screen. I have left it for over a minute to login and nothing happens. the screen does not blank and come back. I posted this to the Ubuntu Forum (http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1362488) to see if i was doing something wrong and got the advice that it was related to gdm. I have listed the errors I receive here as well. It looks like something has changed between 9.10 and 10.04 with gdm and the LiveCD login If I get more details I will follow up.
