1 is correct -- but it seems to be the same as 2 since the dvdrw was erased
from the right-click menu that pops up on the desktop in GNOME -- afaik,
this invokes brasero?
2 was for media that wasn't blank -- Nautilus correctly mounted the media
but brasero didn't seem to handle with the fact that
Thank you for the clarification. I will begin work on updating the
description of this bug, then I will see about getting this fully
triaged. Thank you again for taking the time to help us with this report

brasero fails to recognise dvdrw drive and/or media
** Description changed:
Binary package hint: brasero
- As of about yesterday, Brasero no longer recognises the DVD+RW drive (or
- perhaps it's the media?) that I've been using for ages. I've installed
- K3b, and that works just fine. This seems to have started since I
- blanked a DVD+RW disc

No problem (:
Brasero reports a version 2.28.2 in the about screen. The installed package
reports version 2.28.2-0ubuntu1. Looks like the bug you want to link to is
2.28 -- hit! (:
Thanks

Thank you for responding so quickly. I think I may have found another

Can you please confirm whether this issue

I'm afraid I'm probably not as helpful here...
Well, for starters, I don't know if, by at other times you mean *any*
other occurrences -- in which case, I do remember the having this once
before, but I can't remember the exact circumstances. ): I've had a few
other oddities though:

Thank you, every bit of information is always of huge assistance! Since
you said that you've had trouble with Brasero not recognizing discs in
other situations, I'm not entirely sure that this bug is the same as the
other one I found. It is very difficult to tell whether all of the

https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/514782
As a followup:
After burning the same DVD+RW media with K3b, Brasero now recognises the
media and seems to want to allow me to burn onto it. I don't understand
what is so special about burning onto it with K3b. Blanking it under
Win7 with CDBurnderXP didn't change anything before this.
