1) Ubuntu 9.10 2) Evince 2.28.1-0ubuntu1.2 3) Evince should open. 4) I am using NeatX (NoMachine NX free server) http://code.google.com/p/neatx/ ppa:freenx-team/ppa When it is used in Floating Windows mode (no virtual desktop) evince drops with this message: "No protocol specified cannot parse arguments: Can't open display :" It's the only application with such a problem...
