I don't know if the unity case applies on this bug, cause we are talking
about gnome-panel, does unity have gnome-panel?

I use natty and neither right-click nor double-click works on Dropbox
and Clipit. However, with Mail Notification it works.
WORKAROUND: left-click on any other working icon in the notification
area (e.g. volume, date, change user), then move mouse towards the
faulty icon.

I have the same issue, my maverick system is a fresh install, but i
can't really remember if my computer originally had it or it started
acting like that after a while, whenever i need to right click any item
on the gnome-panel i didn't know that the double right clicks works, i
used to go crazy
I tried with a new user, and experienced the same issue.
This machine was upgraded from 9.10 to the 10.04 beta. Another machine
with a fresh install of 10.04 did not have the same issue. To eliminate
the possibility that it was a beta-related issue, I created a new
virtual machine, installed
works fine here, cannot confirm the issue. Did you tried with another
new user created there? Thanks.

for which item there? every application is independent and they manage
their right click/left in a different form, with which application are
you having the issue?.

The application I'm having the issue with is the Notification Area
Applet itself. The Network Manager icon, among others, is displayed
within this applet. I've attached a screenshot with a red box around the
handle on the Notification Area applet, where, if you right-click, the
menu does not come
