Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-menus

Ubuntu Version: Lucid (with latest updates (as far as I know)).
gnome-menus version: 2.29.91-0ubuntu2.

I have generated a debian package which contains a .desktop file, and
when I install the package the .desktop file is stored in
/usr/share/applications

I am expecting a menu entry to appear in the Games category (as this is
specified in the .desktop file) so that users can easily access the game
and not have to run it from the command line. However, after
installation of the package has completed there is no menu entry, (even
though there is a .desktop file in the /usr/share/applications folder).

I have tested my package in Karmic where the entry appears in the menu under
the Games category.
I have also tested my package under Lucid (alpha-3 that I downloaded from
here: http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/lucid/alpha-3/ - amd64 version) and
after installing the same package, my menu entry appeared correctly. So I think
the change that broke this would be somewhere between alpha-3 and what we have
now.

If you need any more information, I'm happy to provide it.
