Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-panel

In my home directory, quite some folders such as Documents, Downloads,
etc. are symlinks to folders on a distributed filesystem. If that
filesystem is not available during boot, gnome somehow remembers this.

When trying to open any such folder from the panel (through the Places
menu), i get "<NAME> is not a valid folder".

When opening my home folder with Nautilus, the symlinks do NOT show up.
Only when I refresh in Nautilus, they show up and the panel starts
working normally. This behavior might be related to gnome-vfs or
nautilus more than gnome-panel, but I only get an error popup with
gnome-panel.
