opposite problem for me too. I have a usb disk with 2 partitions. One is FAT32 and one is NTFS They correctly get mounted when I plug the usb but when I try to unmount one of them it is re-mounted automatically. So there is no safe way to unplug the device unless I shut down. -- GUI apps unmount

I believe the problem is that: The kernel or the responsible module does not trigger the insert event or the unplugged event ONLY when these events occur but it just reports from time to time if a device is plugged in or is unplugged. This is destroying the major gain from the USB and

I have the opposite problem in Feisty. I have a USB device with multiple partitions (CoolerMaster enclosure with NTFS/FAT32/NTFS partitions) and I do actually want to Eject it. Right-clicking on one of them and selecting the Eject menu item does unmount all of the partitions (good), but they then
