Here is the libgstshout.so file from Karmic that works in versions up to at least 12.04. Unfortunately I need the x86_64 version to get it to work on a 64-bit machine. Same problem here as well... this is absurd. Over a year since the bug was opened, and there is not even an importance assigned to it. I did add-apt-repository ppa:gstreamer-developers/ppa, but the issue didn't go away, only solved using the karmic libgstshout2.so file.
