I deleted the .compiz folder from my HOME directory. It did not fix the problem but now the .xsession-errors file writes upon reboot. There are similarities in behavior with that bug but it doesn't seem to be exact. Only Font and Visual Effect setting aren't preserved. Theme and Background are preserved. As to session storing. I don't know. I did a clean install of Lucid (because every time I use upgrade from one distro to another it borks my system). So the question is does the default install of Lucid do session storing? I had some free time this a.m. so I reinstalled Karmic and the problem went away. I then re-installed Lucid and it came back. I think that makes it safe to say that there is something going on with Lucid. Yes I believe I can write to my user directory without any problem. Or rather, I haven't hadn't any problems that make me think I can't. It is on a separate partition from the file system and has functioned without issue since Edgy. I can not locate an .xsession-errors in either my HOME directory or in the etcGDM directory. Am I missing something?
