The gdm.conf has a GraphicalTheme=Human which seems to be correct. Do
you have anything to /var/log/syslog about that? Could you try with the
Debug key set from gdmsetup?

that one has GraphicalTheme=Human too. Do you have edgy-gdm-themes
installed? The artwork has been splitted and if you don't have ubuntu-
desktop installed and didn't use the dist-upgrader tool it's likely you
didn't get that new package installed

I really don't think this is actually a theme issue, i've got everything
installed that you mention. After I read the description of bug #62342 I
realized that was a better description of my problem.

Stephen McClain told me to do it... what he is reporting is the same bug
as mine... there you will find more information, my configuration and
log files and a way to partialy fix it. The problem aparently is not
with the configuration, but something about the booting up of the
system. Can you
