As a matter of fact the bug does not happen with Ubuntu classic, no
effect.

Yeah, it seems to lag somehow, e.g., if you continue to move your mouse
after pressing the button, you'll get a screenshot with more captured
than marked (see attachment).
Note, that all this only seems to happen with Compiz running.

Not everything in the screenshot is masked.
If you look at the lower right corners of either window, they're not
masked.

gnome-screenshoot contains mask, when doing screensshot by selecting
area
The bug is fully reproducible. Launch gnome-screenshot --interactive and choose
the 'select area' option.
You will get a screenshot with a pink patina. This happens only with Natty in
my experience.
I attach an example.

To my knowledge, also several other people experiment this bug. I hope I
am right in suggesting the status change in 'confirmed'.
