the issue is in gnome-control-center I believe. if you start preferred
applications in live session you see rhythmbox is set as default there.

I think I understand this bug report. If you install rhythmbox in the
live session you instantly get a rhythmbox icon in the place of 'listen
to music' but if its not installed clicking 'listen to music' opens
firefox. affecting gnome-control-center for now might be some other
package responsible.
oops, that repetition is firefox's fault :D
