[Bug 75912] Re: Hang on connecting to unreachable ftp
Hi, this bug still exists in Hardy, and is easy to reproduce: - Set your firewall not to allow ssh-connections. now go to places-connect to server... on the menu - Try to connect to an external ssh-server: - Service type SSH - server google.com - User Name: anyuser - Important! Check the Add bookmark checkbox! - Nautilus hangs until timeout is reached. Nautilus will also hang if you go directly on a bookmark that has sftp- address, and probably on ftp as well if ftp-port is closed. This bug is very annoying, please reopen this bug... regards Jonas:)) -- Hang on connecting to unreachable ftp https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/75912 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 75912] Re: Hang on connecting to unreachable ftp
This bug does not cause a nautilus crash. It causes nautilus to hang for roughly 3 minutes. Here's how I reproduced the bug. I created a new connection 'FTP (with logon)' from the Places Connect to server... menu. In this case I had created a valid FTP account on the server but the server was not accessible because port 21 was not open on the server. During the 3 minutes of nautilus hanging, the upper left menu (applications, places, system as well as the panel shortcuts) did not respond to mouse events. After the hang, everything returned to normal and a dialog box appears with this message: Could not open location 'ftp://[EMAIL PROTECTED]' Timeout reached. I attempted to obtain a backtrace, but since nautilus never actually crashed, gdb never returned to a prompt where I could ask it for a backtrace. ** Changed in: nautilus (Ubuntu) Status: Invalid = Confirmed -- Hang on connecting to unreachable ftp https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/75912 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 75912] Re: Hang on connecting to unreachable ftp
to get a backtrace just type gdb -p $(pidof nautilus) from a command line when nautilus is hanging, it'll attach the running instance and you can get a backtrace -- Hang on connecting to unreachable ftp https://launchpad.net/bugs/75912 -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 75912] Re: Hang on connecting to unreachable ftp
I tried making a backtrace on nautilus but i think it failed. I had to edit in gconf so nautilus had show desktop on false to be able to get something. If i just traced nautilus i got something like 'Program exited normally'. I ran some backtrace but with errors. You can see it in the attached file. I wanted to open the remote server from nautilus. ** Attachment added: backtrace with errors http://librarian.launchpad.net/5619525/gdb-nautilus.txt -- Hang on connecting to unreachable ftp https://launchpad.net/bugs/75912 -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
