I've noticed that if Ubuntu boots up a little slower, then all the users appear on the login screen. If Ubuntu boots up faster, there's only the one user on the login screen i.e. the user account created first during Ubuntu installation. I will try the suggestion posted by LordFarquaad now. --

Another symptom: When the one user whose name appears on the login screen logs in, and then logs out, the normal login screen with all users is restored. This leads me to think that the issue might be triggered when the system is shut down while a user is logged in. -- You received this bug
