I see the same bug since upgrading to 11.04! Here it occurs when I login to "Ubuntu classic without effects", open a panel menu (e.g. the application menu) and wait until a popup text appears. When such popup box closes, it leaves a "hole" in the panel. AFAIK applets are redrawn correctly, only
