Occurred when I attempted to run vlc - which hasn't worked since I
upgraded to 11.10. I try it every time I update, on gnome-shell it just
comes up weird and unusable, when I run it in unity I get this error
instead.

has happened for me as soon as I launch any program in this case
thunderbird. It could well be it's a crash on start up as apport appears
and I click report issue and this bug appeared a the same time. running
