Out of curiosity, did you test if the original misbehaviour is still
there? The problem is very clear and, I think, not related to the
specific version of evolution.

Adding this to the papercuts, indeed feel free to remove it if you think
it's not suited.
Summarizing, the problem is that as evolution is designed now, if I send
a message using nautilus-send-to (part of the default install), I risk
to power off my machine before the message is sent. This
I recalled having tought about the main window opened earlier; in fact I
had reported this other bug
https://bugs.edge.launchpad.net/evolution/+bug/84065 and I now marked it
as a duplicate of this one; I am now in contradiction with myself, and
thinking about it, perhaps it would be better to

Simply function as Thunderbird functions - it keeps a progress window
open until the mail is sent - I don't need a message telling me whether
I am allowed to power off - simple progress is enough.
An option to 'shutdown when sent' might be interesting.

When invoked from nautilus-sendto,
Now that the new notification framework is in progress, two
notifications could be issued if the evolution main window does not
exist. One should say your message is being sent, do not power off or
log out until the message is sent or something more user friendly but
similar, and the other one

Thank you for your bug. Looks like an upstream wishlist, if you get no
error that's because sending worked fine, having a confirmation dialog
to say there was no error doesn't seem to be something useful and would
be in the way for normal use
** Changed in: evolution (Ubuntu)
Importance:
A confirmation dialog would be too much, what I would like to see is the
progress window that you get with send receive, only if the main
window does not exist, or also a non-interfering popup saying file
blahblah successfully sent only if the main window does not exist, that
would suffice. Just
That looks like something that would go in the way of the user. When you
do something and there is no error you don't need a confirmation there
was no problem usually. Anyway to forward upstream if somebody thinks
that would be useful and is wanting to forward that request on bugzilla

Ahem, I see that also affects evolution (upstream) does that mean that
you already forwarded this bug? If so, what's the remote URL? - Sorry
for being so newbie.

Will forward upstream, however a little context on use cases is missing
here: for example, I send-to a file, click on send, the window
closes. I don't think about that since I am in a hurry, suspend my
laptop and go to work. I come back in the evening and discover my file
is still in my computer
We use upstream task without an upstream bug number to list bugs that
need to be forwarded upstream, if you open a bug upstream please update
the task to point to it then
