I found a way to freeze gedit. Sorry if this is a duplicate.

- Go to http://html5boilerplate.com/
- Download the stripped boilerplate
- For some reason gedit is the default application for this file, which in 
reality seems to be a zip. 
- Gedit window opens, but is empty and does not close with close button.
