Public bug reported:

When I print tamil characters from a C program, the output is not
properly displayed in the terminal.  If I collect the output in a file
and open the same in GNU Emacs, the tamil characters are properly shown.
There is some problem with gnome-terminal w.r.t displaying tamil chars.
Please check.
