Usually when saving a file as UTF-16 and UCS-2, a BOM character will be
inserted at the start of the file. This does not happen in gedit.
The BOM would be 0xFFFE for LE and 0xFEFF for BE. Inserting the character is
optional in UTF-16 but

Since Daan seems to have migrated definitively to Windows, I will try to
answer. I experience this problem under Xubuntu, so, there are no
nautilus components installed on my computer, and I wouldn't want to
install any. As garybrlow explained on post 3, this worked perfectly in
previous versions.
Correction - the mouse cursor when Nautilus gets stuck is a closed hand
with a small arrow pointing upwards and leftwards in the bottom right
corner of the closed hand.

the broken gstreamer plugins.
MPG123 from the repos should play even the MP3 files fine becaus the

restriction from facebook itself. its XMPP implementation does not allow
empathy to make contact groups.

It didn't work at first. I didn't have mousepad installed. I installed
that and we'll see

make it to use the old notification area icon by unticking 'display
incoming events in the notification area' and see if the problem is

linked empathy upstream bug report. as empathy developers seemed
interested for changing the default server. attach your patch to the
upstream bug report. I cant as this debdiff contains the packaging stuff
in it too.
