I confirm the problem on Ubuntu 11.10 amd64 desktop. After a while
or when the system is under any load, typing and switching tabs in the
terminal becomes very slow. htop however often shows high CPU usage

I can confirm the same redraw issues with gnome-terminal using gnome-
shell. It's difficult to capture as taking a screenshot seems to
trigger a redraw.
It only seems to happen when output would also trigger a scroll, but is
not reliably reproducable so can't comfirm.

My account name in the internal jabber of my work is aldo@hostname. It
used to work in previous releases. In 11.10, I had to add .company.com
to it to be able to create the account in Empathy. This regex is too
restrictive.

Indeed. But users-admin is no longer developed, since it's been replaced
with the new GNOME control center applet upstream. (The new applet
doesn't allow setting a password-less account.)
