It's not a problem for Cairo-Dock because if this file is not found
[$XDG_CONFIG_DIRS/menus/${XDG_MENU_PREFIX}applications.menu] the dock
will check first with some prefix (gnome-, kde-, etc.) and then check
@manny - thanks for posting that article, clarifies a lot of things.
Based on the explanations there my recommendation would be to close this
bug as won't fix since X11 basically makes it ridiculously hard if not
downright iimpossible to address this.

I believe GNOME and Unity are working fine in Saucy from either an
