i think you have a serious problem with integration of empathy and online
account packege in ubuntu.
so, to be able to connect to my facebook account, i had to remove the ubuntu
online accounts by running command:

Same problem here...after killing Rhythmbox on the first startup it
works fine until I restart my computer. Very, very annoying bug to
have. Definitely started with 13.10, it was not there on 13.04 for me.
Also, I did a clean instead, so it is not a leftover file or upgrade
issue.
