In earlier gnome-terminal versions one was able to hide gnome-terminal
menubar by default using ProfileSettings - General - Show Menubar. This
setting is not available anymore and thus there seems to be no way to
hide the menubar by default. This is extremly annoyingly.

Mike, because of how GNOME Shell extensions work, your suggestion is
unfortunately not possible.
There was a major fix for libgweather released to Ubuntu 17.04 recently
so make sure you have all updates installed. Since 17.04 was released,
there were also fixes in gjs for some gnome-shell crash
If this is accepted, we need to add a known issue to the release notes,
and add a task for next cycle to follow up with the PulseAudio
developers.

I can confirm that the special folders like "Home", "Network" and "Trash" do

Ok sure, but if an identical problem is affecting chrome/chromium,
firefox and nautalis, why aren't we assuming that there's one root
