reported for the netbook issue, because something has been fixed (brightness

I've deleted .xsession-errors lately, and created a new one, but nothing
is written into it. When running the command from the terminal, it opens

I agree that the importance of this issue should be raised. I also tried
to open the attached crash.svg, it opened in less then a second in
chromium, and with eog the system stopped responding, the only solution
was to log out with Alt+PrtScr+K and then log back in.

What is happening on startup?
* Is the boot menu showing ubuntu and windows displayed?
* If ubuntu is selected to start, does it display an error message?
* Does windows start normally?

I can not reproduce this on 10.10 using eog 2.32.0, with nvidia. The
difference is that I use the i386 version.

I have found a workaround. Something messes up file associations for the
'folder' type. I can't find the reason, but here's how I have fixed it:
* Open the Computer from the Places menu
* open a partition, which does have some folders in it
* right click on any folder
* select Open with Other
Instead of the File Browser you can select the Open Folder item too.

I don't know what could cause such a problem, i can not reproduce it. At
first I thought, that shotwell was causing it, but after seeing other
people have the same issue with other apps (archive manager, vlc, etc) I
have changed my mind. It must be something more systemwide but I do
not
