It just happend to me, a minute or so after logging in. I hadn't even
opened Nautilus and wasn't looking at thumbnails of videos. The only
program I hade opened after restarting my computer was digiKam. This on
a fully updated Jaunty.

Unfortunately, this bug is still present in today's 2.30.0-0ubuntu1
release of seahorse-plugins/seahorse tools. There seems to be no way of

When creating a file in Nautilus 2.14.3 (Dapper) permissions are not updated as
per the umask setting defined in /etc/profile. When umask is changed from
default 022 to 002 this should give the group write access with file
permissions of 664, but Nautilus maintains file permissions of 600.
Thanks for the suggestion Brian but it doesn't work on Dapper. Nautilus
still keeps file permissions at 600 :-(

Unchecking the setting was a really bad idea for me. After doing a
suspend to memory and then a resume my screens were entirely white with
a mouse cursor instead of a password dialog. Fortunately moving the

I could not reproduce the problem with an up to date Hardy as a VMWare
guest.
It would however mark the downloads as failed until mp3 codecs were
installed. I didn't need the codecs as the files are intended for an
ipod but that is a trivial matter and easily worked around.

My bank provides tax information via an FDF file. Internally it points
to a PDF with named fields and supplies values for the fields. It has a
text header identifying it as FDF.
It is possible to view the filled in form using the proprietary Acrobat
reader but that isn't very free software.
The best approach is to use the pdftk package. You have to download the
referenced PDF file and then do this:
$ pdftk TXFRM_1099DIV_1page.pdf fill_form tax.fdf output tax.pdf

Another set of pdf files with this problem - Go to
http://www.sydneybuses.info/ and on the right hand side select any bus
route and press get timetable.
PDF shows no text. The pdf's worked fine in Fiesty and works with Kpdf
from Gutsy.

After doing a hibernate, Ekiga tries to reregister on the resume and
fails (in my case it says the failure is due to a timeout). There is no
easy way of getting Ekiga to re-register (it would be nice if it tried a
