I could not remotely log into X on Ubuntu with Cygwin until I shut down
the Windows XP firewall. I have not changed /etc/hosts in any way.
Suse works fine with the firewall in its normal state so it is clearly a
difference in the way Ubuntu sets up X that is causing the remote login
problem. I
As I have already said I fixed the problem simply by turning off the Windows
XP firewall, so I think it must be some sort of port issue. Suse works fine
with the fire wall ON!

connected an external monitor for the first time and maybe also tried Fn+F1 to
activate the VGA port. After doing that (and rebooting various times) Super+P
does not launch Gnome-Do anymore as I

Gnome-Do catch my Super+p again. Fn+F1 obviously still emitts the same
code (why should that change) and opens Gnome-Do but I can live with

i noticed that my printer printed in grayscale and the setting in gnome-
control-center is always yes.
i can change the setting in "additional settings" below the printer list

Add a FTP Bookmark (including login, non-standard-port) in nautilus. It
appears and works well.
open gedit and use the ftp-bookmark to open files. the bookmark now
disappears from nautilus.

the connection to ftp basically works okay. when opening a file via the
connection in gedit it get's open write protected (as gedit shows).
Saving is disabled (ctrl+s doesn't do anything). When using 'save as'
dialog it works well. Using Screem for a test didn't work at all.
easy step to recreate the observed behaviour are easy (excuse me for not having
responded earlier, i did not see your request before):
go to a mail program (i use balsa, but it occured before, when i was using
thunderbird).
open mozilla,
chang to a mailer
select the mail that reports about a bug

it is difficult - because the screen rotation does not rotate the wacom
stylus with it (i have a table) - i have reported this bug already (on
gutsy)

i checked - the screen rotation is not retained after log-out.
i.e. i set the screen to normal (my default in the xorg.conf is portrait) and
when i restart i have a portrait screen.
there is also still no entry in the applications - system-tools -
configuration editor.
