Just for the records: After a complete new install of feisty, I got a
similar behaviour. No more window frames, decorations of anything. No
possibility to change any window settings because of a message
concerning a window manager unknown. Seems that Metacity died. I will
search for its corpse.

I feared a question like this. My PC burned last night, so I have to
check the backup if there is any .gnomerc. Will come back to this
