Before I close it... Feisty Evolution has not changed, so I am unsure
how this could have been solved by any updates.
Or are you running Gutsy Evolution?

Gutsy (hurray for apt pinning). Completely slipped my mind Sorry

Could you please set up a log on filter, and then filter again one such
message?
to set up the log run:
gconftool-2 --type bool --set /apps/evolution/mail/filters/log true
gconftool-2 --type string --set /apps/evolution/mail/filters/logfile
~/evo-filter.log
Replace ~evo-filter.log by

I am using Filter by Subject where subject contains [Samba] and move it
to a folder.
