gvfs doesn't mount the MTP music players any more, as accessing the
device conflicts with Rhythmbox/Banshee's direct device access.

We'll be working on making the gphoto/MTP backend of gvfs ready for use
in music players in the future, so that MTP players are available on the
desktop again.

[Bug 291840] Re: gphoto2 backend unable to mount MTP audio player

2012-04-13 Thread gnimsh
Just want to note that the following will allow you to mount MTP
devices:

This is just a work around. I changed /usr/share/gvfs/remote-volume-
monitors/ gphoto2.monitor to allow the device to be mounted.

[RemoteVolumeMonitor]
Name=GProxyVolumeMonitorGPhoto2
DBusName=org.gtk.Private.GPhoto2VolumeMonitor
#IsNative=false
IsNative=true

This is from bug 330383.

[Bug 291840] Re: gphoto2 backend unable to mount MTP audio player

2009-07-11 Thread gnimsh
Sebastien,

I am currently experiencing this issue on my jaunty system. When I plug
in the MTP device, it automounts the mp3 player and adds 2 entries to
the disk mounter applet as well. Not sure where it adds 2 instead of
one, as only one shows up in the nautilus sidebar.

Once it is automounted a window opens up asking if I would like to open
the device with rhythmbox, however rhythmbox cannot see it because it
has been mounted by gphoto2.

So to reproduce it, I guess all that is needed is to plug the device in.

I'm a bit new to this so please let me know if you need any more info.

Sorry for the lag, Sebastien, I've seen your info request just now.

Fortunately, I can say that in jaunty gvfs+mtp (at least for my own
player) this issue was fixed :)
