I have run the gnome-settings-daemon in a terminal with --debug --no- daemon, but it only ever crashes during startup so I doubt it will help much. So, I have edited the command-line for the GNOME Settings Daemon in Startup Applications and added --debug there. after going to the version i have the same problem with the gnome- setting-demon. It happened again, so I checked before restarting gnome-settings-daemon and there doesn't seem to be anything reported about it. Not as far as I can tell. I wasn't able to find any error messages or anything of the kind. It hasn't happened again since I filed the report, but when it does, I will double-check.
