I'm experiencing what I think is the same problem. I'm on Ubuntu 12.04, with two monitors with twinview. One monitor is 1920x1080, and the other is 1280x1024. The symptoms are exactly as described here by another user: http://askubuntu.com/questions/151337/screen-saver-issue Interestingly, the problem doesn't occur if you merely lock the screen. The problem only manifests if you also blank the screen. I can still move the mouse around the first screen, but it stops when I hit the border to the second screen. Happens to me to on 11.10, i'm experiencing this with an Intel board, it happens intermittently, sometimes i can see the log-in dialog box, other times i can't, one would think that this bug would have a higher importance, or at least a workaround... I also have this problem (Ubuntu 11.10). It occurs on both of my systems. Both are dual-monitor. Similar issue on my desktop (dual DVI on nVidia GeForce GTX 560). I started having this issue after upgrading to Oneiric (11.10). Previous versions of Ubuntu worked fine. I have this issue from time to time on both laptop and desktop (both having single-head configuration). laptop: ATI Radeon x1250 Ubuntu 11.04 x86, kernel: 2.6.38-8-generic desktop: ATI Radeon HD 2600XT Ubuntu 11.04 x86, kernel: 2.6.38-8-generic-pae Both machines have Unity running. I'm on a Radeon, configured my xorg with aticonfig --initial=dual- head. The first screen goes blank (as I'm using the Blank Screen screensaver) but my second stays unchanged. Same problem here. The screensaver works fine, but freezes up when I move the mouse. Even though no unlock dialog box is displayed, I can still type in my password and the screen will unlock. I have similar problems when using the Blank Screen screensaver. Moving the mouse or tapping a key reveals a blank white or blank gray dialog box. Hitting Esc to cancel the dialog then moving the mouse again shows the dialog properly. I also have the same bug, with an nvidia geforce4 go 420 and nvidia proprietary drivers. The password box does not appear and I have to blindly type the password to unlock the screen.
