[Bug 45018] Re: Unlock screen is invisible with Nvidia twinview

2012-07-22 Thread Dave Brady
I'm experiencing what I think is the same problem. I'm on Ubuntu 12.04,
with two monitors with twinview. One monitor is 1920x1080, and the
other is 1280x1024. The symptoms are exactly as described here by
another user:

http://askubuntu.com/questions/151337/screen-saver-issue

Interestingly, the problem doesn't occur if you merely lock the screen.
The problem only manifests if you also blank the screen. I can still
move the mouse around the first screen, but it stops when I hit the
border to the second screen. After I blindly enter my password, things
go back to normal.

[Bug 45018] Re: Unlock screen is invisible with Nvidia twinview

2012-01-28 Thread Dylan Weremeichik
Happens to me to on 11.10, i'm experiencing this with an Intel board, it
happens intermittently, sometimes i can see the log-in dialog box, other
times i can't, one would think that this bug would have a higher
importance, or at least a workaround... I've personally found that if i
switch between the ttys enough the box will eventually re-appear,
defiantly a nasty bug for any new user to experience

[Bug 45018] Re: Unlock screen is invisible with Nvidia twinview

2011-09-09 Thread Luis Mondesi
I started having this issue after upgrading to Oneiric (11.10). Previous
versions of Ubuntu worked fine. I'm using nvidia card with dual-head
(twinview). also, I'm using gnome3 from universe.

locking screen works. no screensaver. moving the mouse shows the mouse
pointer changing when it goes over the dialog where you would be typing
your password. typing my password logs me in.

on 11.04 I was using gnome3 from the gnome3 ppa team and everything
worked fine. then i did a do-release-upgrade -d a few days after beta1
was announced.

[Bug 45018] Re: Unlock screen is invisible with Nvidia twinview

2011-06-30 Thread Victor Cherkassky
I have this issue from time to time on both laptop and desktop (both
having single-head configuration).

laptop:
ATI Radeon x1250
Ubuntu 11.04 x86, kernel: 2.6.38-8-generic

desktop:
ATI Radeon HD 2600XT
Ubuntu 11.04 x86, kernel: 2.6.38-8-generic-pae

Both machines have Unity running. I can't tell if running classic gnome
or classic gnome without compiz can fix the issue.

2010-03-18 Thread DaveM
I'm having the same problem, with Ubuntu 9.10 i386 and a single

$ uname -a
Linux thebox 2.6.31-20-generic #58-Ubuntu SMP Fri Mar 12 05:23:09 UTC 2010 i686

$ aticonfig --list-adapters

I have to type the password in blindly to unlock the screen. I'm not
experiencing any other problems with this graphics card.
