Same problem for me in Unity-2d in Ubuntu Precise 12.04.1 and Nautilus
3.4.2 ...
I found a workaround to recover the progress window: wmctrl
wmctrl -l List the windows being managed by the window manager.
wmctrl -a WIN Switch to the desktop containing the window WIN, raise the
window, and give

This is about a lack of copy progress in the notification area, rather
than the copy dialog window skip flag.

I've compiled the nautilus-3.2 branch from Gnome git and still don't get
any notifications. I'll try building master, and if still no luck, I'll
do some debugging and try to find out why, and maybe go back to
upstream.

This is also the case with a freshly installed Ocelot. If I then choose
to close the file operations windows, I've got no way to get it back or
see how far my operation is.
