Just a heads up to people here, it looks like switching to merged
subtree mode in gconf has seriousy exasperated the old gconfd-2
doesn't pick up new schemas issue.
I've upstreamed the bug to here:

Yeah, but it would be easier if gconftool-2 did it rather than adding
