In additions to the library (ffmpeg etc) also make sure you grab the
gst-plugin-*** file that corresponds with that library. with out the

The other "bits and and pieces" were dependencies which seemed to be
OpenSolaris Gnome libraries.
Basically it seems that spkg is sort of like pkg-get for Blastwave or Aptitude
for Debian Linux systems or Yum for Red Hat Linux systems. A package manager

Many thanks Sriram for the links and install procedure!!
I preformed the install and began installing packages such as libdvdcss,
mplayer and the bad version of gstreamer codecs as the internal ones wouldn't

I had to also update a few other bits and pi

it too??
I don't think SXCE comes with pkg manager so I don't get package updates or
anything unless I download a new cd and attempt to update that way :-(
I have tried using Blastwave (I know not recommended for SXC

What did you do? What system update is that?
Please give more details. We don't want our users to suffer from non
usable system.
I can't give you any information about the login issue because as I said in a
previous post I reinstalled OpenSolaris. All I know is that it added an entry
to grub, something like something-1 or something_1. I tried both those entries
(the old one and the new one) in grub but none worked. They b

OK, I can't add those repositories because I updated my system yesterday and
now I can't login anymore no matter what session I choose. I tried Gnome,
failsafe-Gnome, terminal. If I choose terminal I'm taken back to the login
screen. If I choose either Gnome I get the wallpaper and that's all. N
Thank you che,
I'll check that stuff as soon as I get home and I'll let you know how it goes.

the proprietary codecs. Even if I had to I wouldn't use them. Codecs should not
be proprietary. The specifications should

Hi everybody,
I just installed OpenSolaris 2009.06 x86 and I would very much like to make it
my main desktop. However there are a few pieces missing from the puzzle. How do
I get libdvdcss, ffmpeg, lame and all the good stuff that can't be included in

How do I install
