I am seeing the same bug in precise, kernel 3.2.0-44-generic. I have a AMD
HD7850 graphics card, on a desktop machine. After rersume from hibernate the
screen is corrupted, similar to previous discriptions.

I have had this problem multiple times, and this time it simply won't
fix. I've tried killall pulseaudio in Terminal and lots of other
things, such as reinstalling Alsa and PulseAudio. I have even updated my
kernel.

I have the same or a very similar problem, also with Thunderbird 17.06,
but using Ubuntu 12.04. I have used Thunderbird under Ubuntu for years
but now it crashes immediately, consuming all system resources and
