The upgrade as suggested by Rob may or may not help with this bug. I
advise that once you upgrade, you keep a look out for further unity-
greeter crashes. I am personally unable to reproduce this bug with the
upgrade, although I had a hard time reproducing it even with the version
of at-spi2-core i
The problem seems to be with gvfs-dav (a component of Nautilus =
Ubuntu's file manager), so until it is fixed, if ever, you can use a
different file manager that does not rely on gvfs, like Krusader, in

I forgot to say that my files within Plocha were write-protected (and
readable only by me: permisions -r ). The directory Plocha has
drwxr-xr-x , same as the newly created Desktop .
Anyway, the -r file permisions should not prevent the language-
selector to do its job correctly.
