This will be solved by removing the trayicon support and replacing it with an
optional plugin that supports only GNOME classic. The user will have to
manually enable it. Additionally the hiding to tray icon will be removed as
this causes heavy problems with GNOME
Following on from my previous comment, the drive is most definitely spun
up again by udisks2 polling at 30 minutes, even though udisks2 doesn't
read the SMART data at this point. I recompiled udisks2 to use a far
more reasonable polling time of 24 hours and now the drive stays spun
down like it

switched to LXDE and back to Unity and the menu tearing/artifacts have

Currently Utopic has vte-0.36 (from Gnome 3.12) and gnome-terminal-3.6
(from Gnome 3.6).
Should you decide not to upgrade gnome-terminal (which would be a really
bad idea because these two components are so strongly related – bug
1261619), please at least backport the rewrap

To add something constructive, I mention I have a workaround if the file
is sufficiently simple to be able to save it in RTF:
1) save the file in RTF format
2) open it with a text editor (vi, gedit)
3) substitute all occurrences of

Due to lack of full systemd-logind integration in current udisks2
package, automounting of removable media in multiseat setups is not
respecting seat hierarchy. All seats try to mount it at the same time,
resulting in a race condition. However, the expected behaviour is that
