I meant that when you dock or undock a laptop you get a particular evdev
event (SW_DOCK), which logind checks for. This tells apart the simple
external monitor case from laptop sits closed in dock and only uses
external monitor.

470 G0.
When I close the lid, there are cases when it suspends, but in most of the
cases it doesn't.

For the record, systemd actually checks for docked/undocked events, so
in a VT you should not actually get this behaviour. Only under Unity,

This was spotted by systemd's tests (which involve lightdm) starting to
fail. Cirrus cards (as provided by QEMU) still worked fine until at
least 2015-03-11 (https://jenkins.qa.ubuntu.com/job/vivid-adt-
systemd/119/), but started to fail now.
