Public bug reported:
The hplip 3.17.10 version available in bionic is too old to support
recent low cost, consumer grade HP printers. For example, HP LaserJet
MFP M28 is supported only from hplip version 3.18.3 up. Meaning, the
current LTS release for widely available peripherals.
AFAICT,

tab which greatly increases the space available to display text boxes
and buttons. Closing as fixed.
** Changed in: thunderbird (Ubuntu)
Status: Confirmed => Fix Released
--
You received this bug notification because
Recent releases of Thunderbird now have 'Preferences' displayed in a
main window tab as per the change also made to Firefox. Any problems
displaying 'Preferences' in a too small window have been fixed as the
tab is scrollable to allow for a large number of options.

Technically, PPAs with AppStream data or other repositories with broken data
can trigger this as well.
AppStream could make a guess who is to blame for the breakage and give a more
specific error, but that will require some more extensive code changes.
