I did the upgrade today and also found that it worked the first time I
started it but crashed every time after that. I ran the following, which
fixed the problem.
sudo apt remove thunderbird-locale*
rm .thunderbird/{profile
name}/extensions/langpack-en...@thunderbird.mozilla.org.xpi
sudo apt
This, along with https://bugs.launchpad.net/gnome-shell/+bug/1876628
occurred because I was using xserver-xorg-input-synaptics, which I
gather is no longer supported. Removing this solved the problem.

I can confirm that the problem disappears after removing xserver-xorg-
input-synaptics, but there's also now no 'momentum' when scrolling and
the mouse feels a bit odd in a way I can't quite describe. I'll mention
this upstream.

I can confirm that disabling ubuntu-dock does not make the problem go
away, and that I have more apps to make more pages.
