Why would Ubuntu studio work so well without MIDI capabilities? Why bother?
Wouldn't we call it Ubuntu Not Really a Studio?

/etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf.
Cold boot, and m-audio card now shows up as Number 0 in the alsamixer. Clear
