Been doing some more investigation on this problem. Looked in System Settings-Security Privacy and found on the Security tab that both Waking from suspend and Returning from blank screen were both checked, indicating password required in both cases. Unchecked both items and the problem has now

Been looking into this further and found that it only affected affected one account on the computer - the other accounts worked as expected. Eventually found that the impacted account had a syndaemon command running at Startup to disable the touchpad whilst typing, as this function didn't work in
