I'm on Kubuntu 16.04.1 on 4.4.0-51.72 kernel. I noticed after a kernel
update that it was working both horizontally and vertically with the
trackpoint on the Lenovo Thinkpad USB keyboard model number KU-1255. I
figured this group had already been notified.

This laptop has a touchscreen. I believe that's what id=9 is, the touchscreen,
which works fine.
id=10 is labeled as SynapticsTouch Pad V 1.03U3, but I'm wondering if it should

worked for me as well as root:
sudo -s
$ sudo -s
mv /usr/lib/libreoffice/basis3.4/program/
/usr/lib/libreoffice/basis3.4/program.old
mkdir /usr/lib/libreoffice/basis3.4/program/
apt-get install -f
mv /usr/lib/libreoffice/basis3.4/program.old
/usr/lib/libreoffice/basis3.4/program
The move to old directory, apt-install -f workaround worked for me. I
initially did a purge and apt-get update/upgrade to deal with the lack
of libreoffice directory. Then, once there was directory present in /usr
the workaround was successful. I myself do not know the root of the
issue.
You can also sudo -s ,switch to root, save you a little typing.
