In 12.04 sound works fine, so I guess it's no big deal to fix that?

Status in “alsa-driver” package in Ubuntu:

Bug description:
  Sound was disabled after upgrading from 12.04. Today I did a clean
  12.10 install, to no avail. The only device listed is "Dummy Output".
  Added here some outputs that seem to be relevant:
