No it does not. For me it is not a big problem: with "auto eth0" en "iface eth0 inet dhcp" in /etc/network/interfaces I have a working fixed ethernet connection and with "managed=true" in NetworkManager.conf even the icon on the NetworkManager applet is OK. The only thing is that it does not work

Thanks for the hint. I have changed managed to true in NetworkManager.conf, commented out the "iface eth0 inet dhcp" line and rebooted, but the problem stays. If I uncomment again the "iface eth0 inet dhcp" line then eth0 gets connected and the "fixed line connected" appears. The network manager
