The font is downloadable from https://www.fonts4free.net/ecofont-vera- sans-font.html as stated before. I downloaded the zipped .ttf file, unziped it, clicked on it twice in Nautilus file manager, the Ubuntu installation procedure started and finished apparently in a correct/successful way. --
