Yes, the problem is the remote option going away. The emacs function
"browse-url-firefox" uses the remote option on non-ms-dos systems.
Changing that function to not use the remote option solves the problem.

I am seeing the same problem clicking on a link from emacs - where it used to
go to the link, now I just get a new window.
Can get some links to work - clicking a link in terminal, and selecting "open
link", works OK.
