Which devices use Flght mode ? All the Android devices I own or use
have Aeroplane mode, including the latest CM10.1 (JB4.2), for their
UK translation.
Is this actually a translation issue to be fixed or simply a change
to reduce the amount of vocabulary needing translation in other
devices?

Gentlemen; please. This is a minor disagreement that is distracting from
the main issue. We know that AMD have not yet released drivers for a set
of older cards that work with Quantal (or more specifically, xserver
1.13). Let's focus on that.

I'd like to point out that the makson96 PPA is non-optimal as it
downgrades X to 1.12.
(As a side note, is there an important difference between does not
support and not working with that I'm missing?)

Please, please, stop changing this to Confirmed. As an item of amusement
it's Opinion _at best_ and certainly not related to gnome-terminal.

I did a couple of quick tests and it looks as though file roller is not
actually compressing the tar file, and it doesn't matter which
compression method is chosen. Not sure why it has this effect on your
files as the command works as expected for other files.
Steps to reproduce:
1) In Nautilus,

This is OT for the bug report, but prior to the new 9.00 release I put
together an archive with the 1.12 debs for amd64:

Public bug reported:
Following the AMD decision to drop support for older hardware fglrx-
installer will install non-working drivers for some users.
I suggest the addition of an fglrx-legacy package to install the AMD
legacy drivers for users with older cards.
Output for fglrx 9.00 [1]:
#
@34 This is an issue with legacy (HD2000-4000) cards being unsupported
by the latest Catalyst/fglrx releases. Those cards need the legacy
release drivers which at the moment are based on Catalyst 12.6.
Unfortunately these also don't support xserver 1.13.
I've filed a separate bug for this:
Loving it! 2:9.000-0ubuntu1 is working great for me with xserver-xorg-
core 2:1.13.0-0ubuntu4. :)

fglrx-updates
There's nothing that can be done until AMD release a driver that is
compatible with xserver 1.13. Until then we have to either:
1) Live with the open-source driver
2) Downgrade to xserver 1.11 from precise or 1.12 from Launchpad's quantal
builds
3) Find a patch that provides 1.13 compatibility.
Also present on quantal.
